Advanced Yoga Teacher Training in France with Hali Schwartz and Angela Jervis-Read

July 25 - August 2, 2020

This course is held at the beautiful Le Phare de Morillon studio in Morillon, France.

From its earliest roots, yoga has always been a multi dimensional system of both self care and Self knowledge. It is this intersection between self care and Self knowledge that is the focus of our course. The insights that will be gained as we investigate these crossroads will help us to skillfully impart the wisdom teachings of yoga into our classrooms and into our students’ lives. Here we will learn how to masterfully weave yoga’s ancient teachings with her modern practice developing our expertise both as teachers and as practitioners.

Hali and Angela are so excited to be offering this very special training program for yoga teachers and students alike, which will be an integration of yoga philosophy and mythology, as well as pranayam, meditation, chanting, and hatha yoga āsana. Students will leave this well rounded program as confident communicators of this system which has its roots in the past, but which also lives elegantly and relevantly in the present.

The yoga philosophy component of this course will draw upon:

  • The Chandogya Upanishad

  • The Bhagavad Gita (chapters 3-6)

  • The Yoga Sūtras of sage Patañjali (pādas 1 & 2)

  • Sanskrit pronunciation and relevant terminology

In this course we will learn:

  • How to safely practice and teach more of the advanced prānāyām exercises as laid out in the ancient texts of hatha yoga, such as the Hatha Yoga Pradīpikā.

  • The magnificent mythological stories which gave rise to some of our most cherished yoga āsanas, such as vāshishtāsana and vīrabhadrāsana.

  • How to create a hatha flow sequence that is rooted in the themes found in yoga philosophy, and the opportunity to practice teaching it to your peers.

  • The history of the use of both sound and silence (chanting and meditation) for healing, growth and transformation.

  • How to use all of this for the creative crafting of sequences which bring together the themes of self care and Self knowledge.
